Body and Neck: The Squier HSS Stratocaster body is made of alder. Wood used by Fender since the 50’s. Characterized as a medium weight wood, lightly tan to slightly reddish brown. Grain in general is straight with moderately fine uniform texture, usual finished is gloss polyurethane. It is a balance wood capable of producing brightness in highs, full mids and fine lows with sufficient sustain.

The bolt-on maple neck has a C-shape profile with 21 medium jumbo frets rosewood fingerboard marked by inlay dots for garnish and function as well. Headstock is 60’s style which is larger when compared to other Squier and Fender headstock.

Pick-ups: The Squier Stratocaster HSS has standard single-coil pick-ups for the neck, and middle producing a bright sound with a southern twang, and a humbuker in bridge position that gives it a fat warm tones. Controls on the guitar is a 5-way selector switch for pick-ups selection, master volume, and two tone knobs to blend.

Final Thoughts: Affinity Series Stratocaster HSS is different with the Squier Bullet Stratocaster HSS. Some key features to touch on when comparing the guitars is the tone wood use for the body, and bridge system which affects the sound, function and price point.

What gives a great value on this guitar is the tone wood. Even though it is not the same alder specie use on a American Fender, it is still unique for an entry level guitar to be made on this type of wood.
